Do all work at the end of the story 1) Journal: Discuss a task you accomplished over the break. Discuss a task you would like to accomplish today. Instructions: Write 3 sentences explaining what you have accomplished over the break; Write 3 sentences explaining what you would like to accomplish today for a total of 6 sentences 2) Discussion of Extra Credit: If you get you own copy (from the library, bookstore, used copy borrowed etc..) you can replace the loset TEST grade at the end of the 9 weeks with a 100. The book does not have to be new, just a copy you can take home with you. Books will be provided for you to use in class, however, you may not take these home. 3) Discussion of setting goals and a focus for the semester. 4) Class order of instruction: Everyday we will follow the a specific class order of instruction so that you might know what to expect. 1) Reading, 2) Grammar 3) Vocabulary or independent study/ tutoring 5) Snow Policy; Due dates for reading assignments and due dates for grammar assignment a) If there is a snow day, whatever was scheduled to be turned in on the day you were out, will be what is due. Essentially, we pick up wherever we left off. b) Reading of the novel will take place in class and the due dates will be posted as wee get there, short stories are to be read at home, you will get a week to complete the assignment and all reading assignments will be due at the beginning of class. 6) Class discussion of the 5 ways to determine the character traits of a character in a book. 1) behavior 2) what they say 3) what others say about them 4) How other act or react around them 5) How they look - notes on the board.
1) Write down assignments and instruction from the board in your agenda. Expect a pop quiz on your agenda sometime this week or next. Keep it up to date. 2) Begin reading The Contender in class. All reading will be done at school - This leaves valuable after school time for EXAM REVIEW. 3) Take Cornell Notes as instructed on the board. These are concise notes that will help you remember who, what and where details. 4) Homework: Work on Unit 4 vocabulary words. Begin filling in your grid so that it will be complete and ready to turn in on Friday, 12/4. **Staple to the back of the grid any late work you would like to receive some points for. Write extra credit across the top of the page. Points will be given based on how well you complete the late assignments.
